My name is Adrian Cleary and I’m from Stirling in central Scotland.
Where did you do your first degree and what in?
I did a B.Sc in Environmental Geoscience at Edinburgh University and then stayed on another year to do an M.Sc in Environmental Protection and Management.
What is the topic of your PhD?
My PhD research is on the decontamination of radioactively contaminated land through bioreduction and the use of nanoparticles such as bio-magnetite and zero-valent iron
What do you do when you are not doing research in the Geomicro group?
When I am not doing exciting geochemistry things I like hillwalking, baking and making things out of Lego.
Do you have a favourite microbe or mineral?
My favourite microbe would have to be Lactobacillus casei as it is just super at helping me digest food.
