Hi, I’m Chloe! I completed my MSci in Environmental Biology at the University of Nottingham, during which I did some modules in environmental pollutants and remediation which got me interested in radionuclides.
My PhD research will involve looking at the interactions between microbes and radionuclides in spent nuclear fuel ponds.
Outside uni I enjoy spending time outdoors, playing squash and reading.
My favourite microbe is P. luminescens because it is bioluminescent and produces antibiotics which in the American Civil War led to soldier’s wounds glowing giving it the nickname “angel’s glow”.
