Hola todos. My name is Teto Ivan Seitshiro, commonly known as Romãn, long story. I am from a small town called Lobatse in Botswana. I often have to tell people it’s a country the size of France right above South Africa as most people have never heard of it.
I studied Geophysics at Imperial College London and it was during this time that I found myself more drawn to the Geochemistry modules that featured in our course. So, by my third and final year all my electives were Geochemistry, Geomicrobiology or related. That was me priming myself for my MSc in Environmental and Petroleum Geochemistry at the University of Newcastle where I had a comprehensive insight into the world I had begun venturing into. My thesis was based on assessing leaching conditions of heavy metals from abandoned spoil heaps in the River Nent with a focus on Zinc and Arsenic. My PhD research is closely related to my MSc as I will be studying life cycles of heavy metals together with Prof Lloyd.
Outside University I like to read, I have veered a bit from fiction and find myself reading a lot of psychology books lately. I enjoy indie music, so much so that headphones are part of my attire, I’m not just trying to ignore people. I love to write too, poems, stories, articles and maybe if perfectionism ever divorces me one day a full novel.
Not to sound basic but I love diamonds. They have a special meaning for my country and so for me too
